At Nomino, we are committed
to developing names that sell, names that are memorable,
creative, distinctive and relevant to your target market and
assure that they will compete well in their respective competitive
environment.
We believe that naming is as much of a science as it is an
art.
Each project consists of three stages
and commences with Nomino20, a briefing questionnaire
in a 20-questions format. This helps us understand the background
of the project, consumer dynamics and market dynamics of your
industry.
The second stage is our Strategic
platform, of which all the key players of the project
have the same understanding and on which everyone agrees before
starting the creative process.
It consists of the following elements:
- Type & Style of names
- Nomino's proprietary Objectivity Filter (Selection
criteria).
- Creative Streams & angles to pursue
- Other executional considerations
Third stage is creative. Up
to 2000 names may be created for each project.
A short list is established and the names go through a series
of criteria: the ObjectivityFilter. This proprietary filter
is especially designed for naming, to reduce the subjectivity
involved in selecting names.
It consists of the following:
- Marketing criteria: Does the name respect the
positioning and the key message?
- Distinctive criteria: Evaluating its ability to
stand out.
- Scalability criteria: Does it fit with the current
and foreseeable future naming trends? In other words, is
it enduring?
- Style criteria: Easy to spell and pronounce and
demographic appeal.
- Linguistics: Semantic and phonetic analysis. (if
needed)
- Legal: Availability in trademark class in Canada
and, if need be, in the U.S. and other countries. (This
is a preliminary legal search. Final search and trademark
registration is the client's responsibility. We can help
you finding proper legal counsel).
- URL availability (if required): Domain name availability
chart.
After going through this exercise,
5-10 names along with a rationale for each name will be presented
for your consideration.
